I used to be very critical to my own drawings and especially when drawing faces. When I started to let my heart and soul steer my creative process and I dared to continue even though the face I draw was really ugly. Something magical started to happen in this process. I could push through and end up with something that was perfectly imperfect and I liked it. My creative path has been Perfectly Imperfect!!
My painting process is very intuitive and relaxed with a focus on enjoying the process and not trying to focus too much on the result. I have not always been painting intuitively. I got into it 15 years ago when I started to paint for the sake of painting. I gave myself time to paint with no need to get any particular results. I just painted, tried different techniques and different supplies and put all the paintings away in a corner. The time I spent painting was the only thing that mattered. I painted like that for many years and the more I was letting go of the result the better the result became. It was a slow but very rewarding process. I used to be very critical to my own paintings before that but when I started to let my heart and soul steer my creative process something magical started to happen. I am so happy that this transformation took place and that I started to trust the process.
In this class I will inspire and encourage you to not think about the result but just do. I hope you dare to try and I hope you can be nice to yourself if it does not come out as you wish because when you do you will find The Perfectly Imperfect Path to your own creative spark!
What will we do?
I will show you step by step how I create one spread in my old vintage book. We will work with minimal amount of supplies and we will journal with no goal of any particular outcome. We will use paper collage, acrylic paint and markers. We will let go of our inner self-criticism with the help of simple prompts.
