Exciting times at Studio Flow
Spring has officially arrived in Sweden, the snow has disappeared (at least for now) and everything is starting to burst to life. There is something special about Spring, the daylight hours increase and it brings a fresh new energy and feel to my work.
If you subscribe to my newsletter you will know that one of my goals for this year is to spend more time creating in my studio. This has worked really well so far, and I am currently working on 5 different projects and I really want to share these with you.
Large format mixed media art
As you probably know I do love painting BIG and last week I started one of my really big pieces. I got my big roll of unstretched canvas out and started, as I always do, with paper collage. This process is quite time consuming in this format so I do use large pieces of scrap paper and collage papers that I create on a roll of paper with wide brush stokes.
I do have an art collector that really wants to buy one of my big pieces, so he may be interested in this piece or it may end up being part of one of my exhibitions later this year. I have not quite decided yet and this actually excites me, to know that I can let the piece just come to life and then determine where I will exhibit or sell it is very empowering. It lets me be free in my creative process.
New body of work for 2023 art exhibitions
I already have 4 exhibitions booked in for 2023 including one in May, one in June, one in July and then my Art Trail, Danderyds Konstrunda, in September. You can find more information on all of my exhibitions here. I am painting a new body of work that will be exhibited in these exhibitions. I am really excited about them. For this project I want to to bring in the principles that I learned from being part of the Creative Visionary Programme last year.
New Floral Flow and Together series of works
In parallell with the above projects I have been having lots of fun with a series of pantings working on paper. These paintings are smaller and very relaxing to create and they are all part of my Floral Flow and Together series. Some of these will be added to my shop on my website next week. So keep posted. I will announce when they go live on Instagram @flowbyjenny.
Online art auction in April
The fourth project that I have been busy painting for is an online auction in April. I will be taking part in the Renewal – April Auction with Heartful Soul Artist Collective hosted by the incredible Olga Furman. I have been very busy creating some pieces just for this event including the lady below. I absolutely love the process of finding who wants to be painted and then telling her story. I will be presenting 4 paintings and one art journal during the auction.
The auction will run from 4-7 April and you can join us here, already now, to check all the amazing art that will be sold during the event. Take a look and if you see any pieces that you would like me to tag you on when they go live please let me know in the comments below that specific piece of in the comment below this blog post.
The 100 day project
As meditation between the other four projects I have continued working on my #100dayproject and I am really enjoying it. It’s here that I really let go and let my intuition guide me as to what to create. I may start my day working on a piece or use the project as a way to find my flow if I become stuck as I work on one of my other projects.
Below are some photos of the small collage pieces I create by using up old scraps, this is such a relaxing process with no other purpose than just doing.
Studio Flow – my Mixed Media Art haven
I am so fortunate to have a wonderful space that I can create in. This little house makes my heart tick every time I arrive, no matter what the season or weather is. In here my creativity soars and my soul can work it’s magic – even juggling 5 projects at once!
Whatever space you have, make a small section of it somewhere you can indulge in a little creative me time!
Heaps of love and energy to you all.
