Getting featured in In Her Studio
Last year I set myself the goal of submitting some articles to the wonderful Stampington & Company magazines to share Studio Flow, my art journals and my creative processes with a wider community. Well, I have a full article in In Her Studio, and I am so excited to share this with you.
Plans change when inspiration hits
As an artist and also as a teacher of art, it is important that I have a plan of what I will be working on for the year. Sometimes inspiration hits you as you work and plans change to produce something far more exciting. In this blog I share how my trip to the US resulted in 2 brand new classes for 2024.
Painting faces – and having fun when you do it
Painting faces is hard, harder than painting anything else. The reason is that we instantly connect and feel for the person looking back at us from the page. So how do you fall in love with painting faces? Or at least stop getting overwhelmed at the thought of it? Take a look at this blog where I share the reasons why we struggle and the simple steps you can take to help you enjoy painting faces.

Selecting the perfect piece of art for your space
Selecting the perfect piece of art for your space can feel overwhelming. I always encourage people really feel the art and choose what resonates. Here are some tips on picking that perfect piece for your space.
Painting for art exhibitions
As an artist, one of the things I love is exhibiting my art and the process of painting for art exhibitions. I love to combine pieces that have been hanging waiting to be finished as well as creating a whole new collection. Exhibiting my art gives me a great way to connect with buyers and (hopefully) inspire others to create.
A beautiful weekend of creativity
In late April I opened the doors to my Free Online Art Retreat and wow what a fantastic weekend, and week in fact, it was. Take a look at some of the wonderful artwork that came from the free retreat and why I love this class.
Exciting times at Studio Flow
Studio Flow is my haven and I am so excited that I have stuck to my goal of spending more time actually creating. This month I want to show you what is happening with 5 special projects I am working on…
Pausing for reflection
It really has been an amazing year at studio flow both for me as an artist and also as a guide to help others unlock the fantastic world of mixed media art through my online classes and workshops. In my blog I share with you my inspirational moments from 2022.
Physical space and connection with your art
This month I travelled to the beautiful Son in Norway for my Book of Flow workshop. This particular workshop is all about focussing on our own voice, letting go of self-criticism and channelling our inspiration and creativity to reflect our true soul. The artists that joined me in the workshop were incredible and, as I reflect on the workshops I have done, I realise how important the physical space and connection to others can be.
Giveaway time and a Free taster week with 17 incredible artists
This year I have been invited back to join the amazing Tam from Willowing Arts and 15 other artists for Kaleidoscope 2022.
If you have not heard of Kaleidoscope before you are in for a real treat. Kaleidoscope is a mixed media art course, hosted by 17 amazing artists, to inspire you as we explore colour, colour theory, the beauty of our world and the human spirit and it starts this week with a FREE TASTER WEEK.
Finding Inspiration Through the 100 Day Project
Finding inspiration can be tricky and sometimes you need to seize an opportunity and believe that that inspiration will come. That is exactly what happened with my 100 day project…
The artists toolkit
I look around my studio and the number of supplies I have makes me smile. Alongside the paints, brushes and canvases you would expect, there are handmade stencils, mixing palettes made from plastic lids, scraps of old paintings and a pile of old books ready to become the next art journal. That is what I love about mixed media art – so much of your “toolkit” is recycling of objects and scraps and you really do not need a lot.
Relax with collage
I am popping in today to share a quick art journal session with you. In this session I create some collage pages from scrap paper. Super simple and great fun. Come along and have a look.
