Getting featured in In Her Studio
This is the first blog of 2024 and there is a reason it is a little later than expected. I have some super exciting news to share with you that could not be shared until now.
Last year I set myself the goal of submitting some articles to the wonderful Stampington & Company magazines to share Studio Flow, my art journals and my creative processes with a wider community. As I was enjoying my workshop road trip across the USA I got the email that made my heart skip. I was going to be featured in the first In Her Studio publication of 2024!– whoop whoop.
The sanctuary of a creative space
There's something uniquely exhilarating about being an artist. It's a journey of self-discovery, a continuous exploration of emotions and ideas that reflect our soul at that unique moment in time.
Art has always been an essential part of my being, there have been times where I tried to quiet the call through fear of not loving the end result. But when you have that yearning, that desire deep within, it will shine through.
Creative spaces fill me with inspiration, and both an energy and a sense of peace. I love to just sit and take it all in and let those feelings flood through me. Even more thrilling is the moment you step into a space that's entirely yours: your art studio. A sanctuary where creativity knows no bounds, where every corner is a testament to the endless possibilities that art offers.
Studio Flow is not only my art studio, but also that sanctuary where, no matter what is happening in the outside world, I can escape and just simply be.
Imagine walking into your studio every morning. The smell of paint, the array of brushes, and canvases in various stages of completion greet you. This is more than just a physical space to “do the work”; it's an extension of me. From the furnishings and little trinkets collected over the years, to the art supplies and random scrap papers and useful materials for recycling, Studio Flow is that familiar chaos where I can tap into my flow and explore my own imperfectly perfect world.
Sharing Studio Flow with the wider creative community
When I first saw the beautiful red house that would become Studio Flow there was an instant recognition deep within that this would be my studio – even though I had already committed to another studio space that was, on paper, everything I needed. But what is it they say? “When you know, you know.” And that was exactly what happened. The history, the energy of the building and the wonderful mix of spaces all came together and told me I had found my space – the location was an added bonus being just a cycle ride from my home.
I have spoken to many artists, both well established and those just starting on their journey and when I share my story of how I came to have this wonderful studio they have been inspired. This was the catalyst for my submitting to In Her Studio. I have loved the magazine for many years and have soooo many back issues and cut out articles in my studio and I wanted to share my journey, from the humble plastic crate and tarpaulin that was my first studio through to Studio Flow, to help inspire others to develop their own creative space.
Thank you Stampington & Company
As you would expect, Stampington & Company have done an AWESOME job of taking my words and images and weaving it into a truly magical spread (9 full pages :-)))) in the Spring 2024 issue of In Her Studio (released 1st February). There are a LOT of emotions running around right now – I am so very proud, excited and humbled and I could not wait to share it with you.

It's a place of freedom, learning, sharing, and introspection. Every day spent here is a reminder of the joy, the challenges, and the unparalleled satisfaction that comes with being an artist. It's not just a studio; it's a testament to the love and energy that goes into each piece of art, a sacred space where creativity knows no limits.
