FREE MINI-CLASS
Welcome to Inspired by Doing
I am so excited to see you here!!!
I will bring you with me into my world of mixed media art. In this free lesson, I will bring my art supplies with me and create in different places in a relaxed and fun way. I will then bring all the parts with me back into my studio where I will create a couple of art pieces. I will create 2 spreads in my junk art journal, a vintage book that I create straight into without any preparation of the pages.
Art Journaling is such a great way to create "me-time" and a fantastic way to explore art in a limited space and with limited art supplies.
For me art journaling is my resting place where I give myself time to recover. My art journaling process is totally free from requirements, rules, results or obligations. For me it is a way for my creative soul to be totally free and a way to find the unique creative source within myself.
Art Journaling is a very important part of my creative process and it allows me to relax, to let go and to find my flow. I feel safe working in my art journal. For me art journaling opens up the magic of what is unique within me.
My process…
My painting process is very intuitive and relaxed, with a focus on enjoying the process and not trying to focus too much on the result. In this class I will show you how I create in different places. One of my favourite spots is by the sea and I love sitting on the rocks with my art supply and art journal while the sun goes down :) The garden is another favourite place to just relax and do.
I will bring all the pieces back to my studio where I add them to a vintage book. I do not prepare the pages or the book before I start, but I add collage paper and different mediums as I go to make the book stronger. If a page falls out or the back of the book breaks, I repair it as I go. For me, the process is the important part, not the result. The process and the time being creative is the purpose, the result is just a bonus.
If you want to learn more about working in vintage books you can do that in my class “Bye Bye Perfection”
If you want to learn more about how I make my own hand made art journals you can do that in my class “Book of Flow”
If you want to learn how to paint faces in a very simple way you can do that in my class “The Eyes of the Soul”
I hope you will be nice to yourself during the process. Try different things to find what you like and enjoy. Focus on the things you like and the things you enjoy doing and do more of that. By doing that you will develop your own process, your own style and find your own creative voice.
So let’s get started and dive into the process of creating two spreads in my book.
I will start by showing you some of the art supplies that I bring with me when I work outside my studio. I love to doodle and write on different kinds of paper and in different places to empty my brain. I also love working with paper collage. This is a very meditative process, a great way to create without having to think too much and a fantastic way to get into my flow. It is also a great way to create the base for further creative play. I do my collages in a totally random manner where I just glue pieces of paper into my book without really thinking or having a thought about what the final piece will look like. I am not trying to do something beautiful; I would rather get it all a bit unsymmetrical and wonky to get into the mood of creating and trying to just enjoy the process instead of worrying about the outcome.
The steps that I go through are:
Pack some art supplies to bring with me
Doodling and writing in different places
Back in the studio: Adding the pieces to my vintage book
Adding paper collage and acrylic paint
Enjoying the process :)

What my students say
"Thank you, Jenny, for sharing your work with us. I am trying to just follow my heart and let the guidelines in my brain take a vacation. Your backgrounds show so much energy, but your subjects are able to keep their presence in quietude and contemplation. It was a treat to view your work!"
